Checking in / Out of school

We are concerned about the safety of all children, so we have established safety procedures to help keep students safe. Students must remain on school grounds during school hours. If a student needs to leave school, parents must notify the school or sign out the student in the office. We ask that you speak with your child’s teacher or with the secretary to help us keep all children safe.

Students who are late to school should check in with the secretary in the office.

Parents and All Visitors Please check-in at the Office.

State law requires that anyone visiting a public school check in with the office before visiting the classrooms. This will help us know who is in the school building at all times.

Phone calls/ phone use

Except in the case of emergency, please do not call your student in class. Please leave a message with the secretary in the office and we will see that your student receives the message, so he or she can return your call during recess. This will help us keep our classrooms free of disruptions during learning time.

Phone use by students is discouraged and should only be in the event of emergency. We appreciate your help in not abusing the phones or tying up the phone lines into the building.

Lockers/Nuisance items

Each student will have a locker assigned to him or her. We do not want students to put locks on their lockers, so we ask that valuable items such as radios, video games, etc. are not brought to school. The lockers are sufficient to hang coats, place book bags and keep their school materials.

Students should not bring toys, cards, or other items that may be distractions at school. These items may be confiscated until parents meet with the teacher or principal.

Materials/ books/ etc.

We will provide your student with a pencil and with notebooks as needed for class. Your student may bring his or her own binder, backpack, or other school supplies if you wish to send them. Please keep these items simple and do not allow your students to bring items that may be dangerous or nuisance items that will distract from learning.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

The Utah Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Utah Code Ann.53A-13-301 states that parental or guardian consent is required in all grades, Kindergarten through grade 12 before any information or records that personally identify a student are shared with anyone outside of the educational system.

FERPA also requires that parents are notified about the persons who have access to personally identifiable information and how the information and records will be obtained, examined, and for what purposes the information will be used. We will notify you before we will give out any information about your student to anyone outside of our educational responsibility.
